We are a family-owned hospitality company, founded in 1979 on the bold vision of José Cardoso, a man driven by the desire to create jobs for the people of Madeira and to warmly welcome all who visited the island he loved. Today, his legacy lives on through his children. Grupo Cardoso’s hotels — Alto Lido and Baía Azul, both in Funchal — offer a combined total of 1,060 beds and stand as symbols of excellence, comfort, and deep respect for Madeira’s natural and cultural heritage. Looking ahead, we have embarked on a Sustainability Journey through 2030, inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals and grounded in the Inner Development Goals.
