The GSGA Foundation is the 501(c)(3) charitable affiliate of the Georgia State Golf Association.
The GSGA Foundation assists the golf industry in Georgia by providing educational opportunities through two scholarship programs.
Yates Scholarships are awarded to employees, or children of employees, of GSGA Member Clubs. These young people, or their parents, may be employed in any area of a club's operation - golf operations, golf course maintenance or clubhouse. These scholarships are considered an additional benefit of a club's membership in the GSGA. Playing golf is not a prerequisite.
Moncrief Scholarships are awarded to students in the turfgrass or agronomy programs at the University of Georgia in Athens and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton. These scholarships are provided to the next generation of golf course superintendents in Georgia.
The GSGA Foundation's business affairs are conducted by a Board of Trustees, which meets quarterly. Various committees are established to provide advice to the Board, including ones for scholarships, development, finance/spending and nominating. The GSGA staff carries out the policies of the GSGA Foundation Board from its headquarters in Marietta, Georgia.
