About GT&CO

OUR HISTORY In 1926, Maurits Vandermarliere established a cigar company, that continued to grow in the following decades. In the Seventies, the company acquired the J. Cortès brand. Guido Vandermarliere, the youngest of Maurits’s eight children, helped develop J. Cortès into one of the top ten tobacco companies in the world, with a total annual production of 500 million machine-made cigars. The company also diversified its business activities, developing Gryson (rolling tobacco) among others. After Japan Tobacco International (JTI) acquired Gryson in 2012, Guido Vandermarliere founded GT&Co, a family-owned holding company. OUR ACTIVITIES Real Estate Projects GT&Co is continuously looking to expand its portfolio of Belgian and international real estate projects, in collaboration with reliable partners. To date, the company has mainly invested in the Polish and Romanian markets, where it develops office and commercial real estate. GT&Co has also invested in projects in Tenerife. Following the completion of a first project, the Royal Hideaway Corales Suites, the company recently started working on a second project, consisting of apartments and villas. GT&Co has also developed various projects in Belgium, mainly at the seaside. Private Equity and Financial Investments In addition to investments in real estate projects, GT&Co is also interested in private equity and financial investments. The acquisition of Jules Destrooper in 2015 is a good example of this. GT&Co has also taken a stake in a fund that mainly invests in international publicly-traded growth companies.
