About Guardian Fireboat SF

Guardian Fireboat No. 2 is a 1951 fireboat that proudly served Vancouver, B.C. before she was decommissioned and purchased by anonymous donors for the City of San Francisco in the wake of the devastation caused by the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. In 1990, Guardian joined Fireboat No. 1, Phoenix at SFFD Station 35, as protectors of the city. To this day, Guardian remains one of the strongest pumping systems ever built, flowing 28,000 gallons per minute through her six fully functional monitors. Guardian was officially retired by the City in 2022, and was purchased at auction by a handful of committed individuals with backgrounds across fire service, maritime, and business, with the intention of preserving and restoring her, sharing her with the public, and keeping her active on SF Bay. Retired by SFFD in 2022 and purchased by a small collective of mariners and firefighters with the goal of preserving her storied maritime & fire service history. Guardian Fireboat No. 2 is a USCG documented pleasure craft, and everyone rides for free. Save Our Ships SF, a 501(c)3 non-profit was formed in order tp preserve and restore Guardian to keep her active on the Bay for years to come.
