Who is the Guardian of the Ocean?
Guardian of the Ocean is every citizen who consciously, responsibly and actively participates in the process of conservation of the marine and coastal environment.
What does the Guardian of the Ocean?
Act. Takes action by collecting plastics and marine waste that invade the Portuguese beaches and the coastline every day, and recycling the garbage collected during the voluntary cleaning actions.
Sensitize. Raises awareness by alerting to the need to change behaviors, through exhibitions exposing the garbage collected during the cleaning actions, illustrative posters, and promotion of awareness campaigns to reduce maritime pollution (i.e. schools).
Create. Creates active - and physically active - agents of change (proactive citizens) and develops strategies to promote the protection of the environment and ecosystems. Where does the Guardian of the Ocean work?
Our area of intervention covers the beaches and coastline of the district of Lisbon, Portugal.
