Guards Capital- Guards Capital was founded by Amar Bains and Jay Bhagirath in 1997 through their own experiences with investing in previous MIC’s. When they invested in other MIC’s, they realized what a great investment vehicle it was for their RRSP’s. Instead of investing in Banks GIC’s with lower rates or investing in stocks and mutual funds that can go up or down depending on the market and economics, they found it safer to invest into a MIC that was backed by hard real estate. Amar and Jay started the MIC in 1997 and brought on 20 investors who were friends and family. This has grown over the years to where we are now. The name of Guards Capital says it all- it is about Guarding the Capital that investors put in. Our investors are made up primarily through friends and family, therefore, that is why it is so important that any mortgage we lend on is safe and secure. The returns for Guards Capital have been strong over the years and that really was the impetus of starting the MIC in the first place
