Guiding Eyes for the Blind provides guide dogs to people with vision loss. We are passionate about connecting exceptional guide dogs with individuals for greater independence.
The Guiding Eyes Puppy Program is a vital part of training future guide dogs. It involves volunteers, known as puppy raisers, who provide temporary homes for puppies and help them build the foundation for their future role as guide dogs. These volunteers focus on socializing the puppies and teaching them basic skills, good behavior, and exposure to various environments and experiences.
After the puppies complete the puppy-raising stage, they return to Guiding Eyes for advanced training and evaluation to determine their suitability for guiding individuals with visual impairments. The program is made up of a passionate and dedicated community of volunteers who help shape these puppies into life-changing guide dogs!
Guiding Eyes has puppy raisers along the Eastern Seaboard, stretching from Maine to North Carolina, and west to Ohio. Puppy raisers are organized into groups that we call Puppy Raising Regions, and most raisers live within an hour of region class locations.
