Gun By Gun is a tech nonprofit using crowdfunding technology to finance gun buybacks, empowering people to remove guns from their communities and creating a new outlet for activism on gun violence that bypasses the traditional political obstacles. Since forming in July 2013, GunByGun has completed 4 successful campaigns, raised more than $90k from over 880 individual donors, and been featured on national and local press including NPR, NBC, ABC News, Al Jazeera America, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
