Tradition with vision. Gut Hardegg is an Austrian family business steeped in history, located in Seefeld-Kadolz an der Pulkau in the northern Weinviertel region of Lower Austria. Over ten generations, the estate has developed into what it is known for today: diversity in agriculture at the cutting edge with a special focus on preserving biodiversity.
Contemporary and sustainable. Situated in the northernmost part of the Weinviertel, just on the Czech-Austrian border with fertile southern Moravia, the estate currently cultivates over 2,200 hectares of its own land for arable farming, viticulture, forestry and animal husbandry.
For Maximilian Hardegg, the current owner, the creation of a high-quality ecosystem is the focus of the work: above all for field and song birds, but also for insects and small game – according to the credo "Living biodiversity". An understanding of nature from a hunting perspective is a key to success.
Looking beyond the horizon. Yield is not everything – because the increasingly difficult climatic conditions such as drought, heat, immigrant pests, invasive plants and animals as well as unknown plant diseases are a new challenge every year. They clearly show us how important "holistic thinking" has become in agriculture as well.
