The GW Feminist Student Union is actively committed to fighting all forms of oppression, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class and ability. We define feminism as the political theory and practice to free all peoples. We see our particular task as recognizing the fact that the major systems of oppression are interlocking. We realize that the liberation of all oppressed peoples necessitates the destruction of the political-economic systems of capitalism and imperialism as well as patriarchy. We hope to expand upon the feminist principle that the personal is political by raising consciousness through discussion and community building.
