Welcome to my telehealth practice! I'm Hunter Montoya. I’m a licensed psychologist, and I'm committed to the creation of a strong and authentic therapeutic relationship through which clients can experience the trust and support necessary to access strengths and cultivate self-compassion. I'm trained in several evidence-based approaches to therapy (e.g., ACT, DBT, SFBT) and I enjoy treating a very wide range of concerns, from the stress of life transitions to the many forms of anxiety and depression to chronic thoughts of suicide. I use a flexible approach to therapy in order to align with individual needs, and I apply a strengths-based, multicultural lens to ensure that clients are understood in the context of the life they’ve lived. I strive to treat everyone with warmth, dignity, and respect. I’m passionate about using therapy as a tool of liberation, as our mental health is deeply related to both the quality of our relationships and the challenging circumstances of our daily lives. I believe therapy can empower clients to meet their personal goals and to navigate life’s adversities with meaning and satisfaction. By working together to foster self-trust, agency, and empowerment in the face of adversity and complex societal systems, I believe empowering therapy can be an important step towards dismantling widespread systems of oppression.
