About Haitian American Family of Long Island
HAFALI is a non-profit organization serving the Haitian-American community of Long Island, New York. Our programs and services include: 1) Family Support Services HAFALI Family Support Services is made up of two distinct components. Depending on the need and age of the individual, families are served through our FIN (Family In Need) or the BOW (Bank Of Wisdom). Through both program components, we provide as needed: Crisis Intervention Counseling Parenting Classes Guidance and referrals Care coordination Senior Socialization Day Care 2) Community Development HAFALI uses different strategies to educate, bring awareness and facilitate the acculturation process. HAFALI offers cultural competency trainings to service providers and organizes parents and families to advocate for their children within the school system. We also work in collaboration with schools, churches and agencies to provide various groups. We sponsors historical and cultural events and organize fundraising activities throughout the year. 3) HOME: Haitian Outreach Mission Experience HAFALI coordinates multidisciplinary community service trips to Haiti to provide medical assistance, social, educational and mental health services.
