Part of the Barber Farms Family, we specialise in the breeding and development of high genetic merit animals, working with AI companies to bring bulls to stud, alongside maximising our female progeny's genetic potential to create the next generation of trait leaders whilst growing family dynasties which span generations.
Pushing to the Pinnacle of British Genetics
Nestled in the foothills of the Forest of Bowland, we work with herds and services across the United Kingdom; Europe & North America to develop our animals and maximise their genetic potential.
Pushing for Progression
We use research in heritability translations from the dam and sire to respective progeny, to improve upon parental estimates. This allows us to be clinical with our sire selection so we're more confident we're getting the most progress out of each mating.
Where it All Started
Established in 2015 through a partnership with Cogent, Halcyon Genetics became part of the Barber Farms family. Alongside HighHopes Holsteins (RT&CJ Barber), we utilise resources of the entire business to progress.
Our Plans for the Future
We're continuing to progress to a point now where we've had ten solid proof runs of continuous genetic growth. Recently, we've explored $TPI testing and improving our calculations for the US proof. We're expected to have multiple animals in the highest £PLI ranks by 2022.
