About Hampton & Hampton Hill Voluntary Care
Set up in 1974, Hampton & Hampton Hill Voluntary Care is a local charity that provides outreach services to, primarily but not exclusively, to older residents the local area. In the early 1990’s we took on the management of the newly built Greenwood Community Centre in Hampton Hill. Developed from an existing church and school halls, the Centre has plenty of character and provides a friendly and intimate atmosphere for the groups using it. The Centre is a small, but perfectly formed, and is set within a residential setting offering a true hub of activity for local people and offering a base for the Charities operations in the community. As a voluntary care group, we provide community transport, taking people with restricted mobility or access to public transport to essential health appointments, to access to supermarkets and local respite services using our minibus services and a regular excursion programme. We have 120 volunteers working in the community offering befriending by home visit or telephone call and run regular social groups and activities at the Centre. We host a range of activities at Greenwood Community Centre including low-cost counselling services, child and toddler groups, a school of ballet and a variety of health and wellbeing services such as yoga and Pilates. Next year, 2024, will be the Charities 50th anniversary and we hope to plan some extra special celebrations at the Centre
