Handiclapped - Culture Barrier-Free e.V.

Inclusion rocks! Music for All. Berlin based charity Handiclapped organizes and promotes barrier-free live music along this motto. Over the past 11 years more than 250 concerts have been organized by Handiclapped in total. Always artists with and without handicap share the stage and make music together for a likewise inclusive audience. We are always looking for new bands who want to perform with us. Additionally over 50 band and dance workshops could be organized. The “Handiclapped Band” was founded ten years ago and today rocks at around 20 gigs each year. 2 congresses for “Live music and inclusion” have been organized in Berlin in 2017 and 2019. Main goal is, to make barrier-free live music happen as often and for as many people as possible, to create occasions to experience music as a common language that brings people with different backgrounds together at eye and ear level. To make access to live music as easy as possible for all, Handiclapped concerts start at around 6 pm (starting times often being critical, to prevent having to negotiate night shift conditions with caretaking services) and always in barrier-free locations. Tickets cost only 5 Euro, assistants get in for free. Because of the high cost involved with organizing concerts there is always a financial gap that needs to be filled by donations. So far concerts took place in Berlin and Brandenburg. Handiclapped now wants to spread the idea throughout Germany and Europe. Because: Inclusion rocks! Music for all.
