Prisoners of Cabo Verde make beautiful, fashionable and practical products. We sell it for them so the prisoners can buy new craft material, food, toiletries (not provided by prison system), phone cards, send money to family and buy other basic needs. They have something positive to set their mind to while time passes by, when they are making these products for you.
We believe, that being part of a society, we are all responsible for a positive input into prison systems. How something positive is otherwise going to come out, when their time is done? And going back home, into the society? The recidivism numbers are high; as ex-prisoners feel judged by their community, can't find jobs nor (social or financial) support. Plus, there are no reintegration programs on these islands yet.
A percentage of these sales goes to the CSD-Foundation. To create more projects on Sal island in Cabo Verde. To improve education, Sustainable Tourism and local Entrepreneurship.
