Hanover Safe Place (HSP) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing confidential services to persons experience domestic or sexual violence in Hanover County, VA and the Town of Ashland since the early 1990s. Included in these services are a free and confidential 24-hour crisis hot line, emergency shelter, support groups and case management.
Our Mission: Prevent sexual and domestic violence, provide services to those affected, and create community awareness for support and resources.
In FY2016, Hanover Safe Place:
Sheltered 89 people for a total of 2,780 nights of safe shelter.
Assisted 83 families with obtaining permanent housing.
Responded to 1,407 hotline calls through our 24-hour hotline.
Held 246 individual counseling sessions with 72 individuals,
Provided court accompaniment/advocacy to 236 individuals through our court advocate.
Provided services to 506 sexual assault victims.
In total, 2,641 individuals were served by HSP.
