In remote communities, basic toiletries like deodorant and shampoo can be nearly impossible to access — with the nearest store sometimes over 1000km away or only reachable by boat or plane. When available, prices are often unaffordable. Nearly 1 in 5 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people live in overcrowded or unsafe housing. Yet, the cost of living in these communities continues to be ignored. We believe this is unacceptable. That’s why we’re sending Happy Boxes — filled with self-care essentials — to women in these communities. Because everyone deserves the dignity and joy of life’s little luxuries. Matriarchs are the heartbeat of their families. If one Happy Box can help one woman feel seen, strong, and supported — then we know we’re making a difference.
