About Hardware Key
Hardware Key provides simple, secure tamper-resistant hardware and software that can deliver trusted Self-Sovereign Identities to the most vulnerable populations of the world. The UN’s goal to eradicate global poverty by 2030 is to “to encourage and expand access to banking, insurance, and financial services for all”. This lofty goal will effect 2 billion adults worldwide who are currently unbanked. These individuals are lacking credit and identity records. A global move to help these people participate in commerce is planning to use the trust and security that blockchain technologies offer. Bringing the impoverished out of the clutches of poverty will usher in new markets, new customers, new products and trillions of dollars of untapped capital that these people would bring with them. Hardware Key Identities Identities are created by an individual selecting a short memorable 2 to 8 digit pin code. The Hardware Key then creates a cryptographic hash using the self-assigned pin along with the fingerprint profile of the user. The Hardware Key then saves the cryptographic hash to the blockchain. When a user needs access to their encrypted private data, they use the Hardware Key to download the cryptographic hash from the blockchain. The users' self-assigned pin and fingerprint is used to decrypt the hash on the Hardware Key. The Hardware Key also has an output port that can be configured to print a QR code backup of the identities private key.
