Hatari! - this is where the eponymous famous Hollywood Movie was shot in the 1960's by Howard Hawks with John Wayne and Hardy Kruger as the main actors. The impressive landscape between the two mountains – Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro nowadays hosts our two unique destinations – Hatari Lodge and Shu'mata Camp. Hatari Lodge is located in the midst of the lush and green environment of the Meru Ecosystem where mosses grow on trees in the mountain rain forest and Colobus Monkeys playfully swing from branch to branch, whereas Shu’mata Camp sits right on top of a hill in the midst of the steppe that belongs to the dry and dusty Amboseli Ecosystem with its shrubs, Acacia trees and old Amboseli tuskers. It faces the “Seven Sisters” and Mount Kilimanjaro. Our very own safari company The African Embassy Safaris provides our customers with safaris to the most memorable destinations throughout East Africa. When we say “safari”, we mean a journey that will open your senses through attention to details, through choice, through growing and learning by watching nature and wildlife. We do not take the trodden paths, but instead lead you to selected properties at the finest locations, where you will live and dine well. We fulfilled our dream of creating a luxury safari experience for travellers worldwide, but soon realized that whilst we and our clients enjoyed the idyllic and stunning Mt Meru and Kilimanjaro regions, the local population suffered from a lack of basic infrastructure, as well as insufficient educational and vocational training opportunities. That is why we Gabriels created the MomellaFoundation – in order to give back to the community. This in turn provides the source of our passion, love and livelihood.
