Hatutamelen has developed himself working in multiple disciplines, creating woodcarvings, tifas (Moluccan drums), as well as linoleum prints, paintings, and sculptures.
Taking inspiration from Moluccan symbols and motives, his practice and artistry are fueled by spiritualism, and while working on his art he is often led by his intuition.
Through a creative process inspired by his love and fascination for woodworking he creates present-day interpretations - rather than exact copies - of traditional Moluccan objects and symbolism.

Group exhibition of 24 Artists and designers. Hatutamelen’s woodcarved sculpture “Salawaku, Active Protection through Compassion” was purchased by Stedelijk Museum as part of the biannual Municipal Art Acquisitions with support of the City of Amsterdam.
