Haver Foundation

Haver Foundation is a non-profit Jewish community organization active in the field of non-formal education. Since its outset in 2002, Haver has been working towards its mission to challenge stereotypical thinking and prejudiced attitudes in young people, as well as to contribute to the emergence of a society where living together is based on curiosity, reciprocal understanding, and shared values. Haver promotes an ongoing dialogue between Jewish and non-Jewish youngsters in the hope of supporting a knowledgeable and open-minded generation ready to challenge antisemitic or otherwise hateful ideologies and practices. Haver Foundation offers a variety of non-formal education sessions on Jewish identities, dilemmas of Jewish life, and the Holocaust, as well as an interactive walking tour in Budapest’s Jewish Quarter – all of them specially designed for non-Jewish high school students. All of our educational activities are facilitated by trained volunteer educators. More than just channelling information, these young Jewish volunteers bring an authentic Jewish voice to the sessions and create space for honest questions and answers by undertaking the still-taboo act of talking openly about their own Jewish journeys and experiences. We at Haver believe in the power of questions, face-to-face encounters and personal stories.
