HAWAII'S PREMIER ARCHITECTURE FIRM With over 60 years of combined experience in architecture and engineering and 20 years of off-grid and remote location know-how, HIOG is positioned to offer clients the best service available in general architecture or off-grid water, wastewater, and energy system-specific projects. David Sellers, AIA, our Principal Architect, and Jake Freeman, our Principal Civil Engineer met on the island of Palmyra Atoll, about 1000 miles south of Hawaii. David was the Nature Conservancy's Acting Director, and Jake had just donated over $120,000 in labor to help complete a $1.2 million renewable energy project. This project sparked a lifelong friendship. When David returned to Hawaii after completing his degree in Architecture at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, they decided to combine their expertise to start Hawaii Off Grid: Architecture & Engineering.
