ORION Project

ORION is committed to advancing European leadership in science and technology by driving the twin energy transition for stakeholders across the energy value chain. Through a quintuple-helix model of collaboration, ORION provides a modular toolbox of digital breakthrough components, validated in hydro, solar, and wave energy operations across four continents. Central to ORION's vision is the integration of these innovations into human-centric Digital Twin applications, enabling the digitalisation of critical operational and business processes. This seeks to increase the share of renewables in global electricity grids, reduce fossil fuel consumption, and address the challenges posed by rising energy demand, geopolitical uncertainty, and climate conditions. In collaboration with top research and innovation entities from 8 countries across 4 continents, ORION will conduct high-impact testing and validation across five unique use cases. This will promote multidisciplinary knowledge, leading to the development of solutions that transform energy value chains globally.
