However, while the academies and laboratories of education and research tend to privilege and promote healing strategies specific to their cause, health practitioners at the grass roots of helping professions tell a different story.For most practice an eclectic and highly personalised approach to helping people heal psychological hurt. Meanwhile, those in pain rarely find relief in a single strategy or source of support, but piece together an eclectic program of ‘what works’ for them.
