About Heartland Economic Development Course (HEDC)

Heartland Economic Development Course (HEDC) is an IEDC-accredited basic economic development course. HEDC is operated by Heartland Economic Development Course, Inc., with the Institute for Decision Making at the University of Northern Iowa, in partnership with the Kansas Economic Development Alliance, Professional Developers of Iowa, Missouri Economic Development Council, Nebraska Economic Developers Association, Oklahoma Professional Economic Development Council (OEDC) and South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development. Heartland features a diverse and experienced faculty, composed of both academicians and practitioners, which gives an excellent blend of theory and practice. Course content is oriented toward practical applications. Graduation from HEDC fulfills one of the education prerequisites for those who wish to take examinations for Certified Economic Development (CEcD) designation.
