Heko Farm

HEKO Permaculture Frederic Denel founded HEKO Permaculture in June 2016, to ensure that the future generations will benefit from a local, resilient, and sustainable food system by bringing nutrition and agriculture closer together within our urban environment. The stakes are high: we need to reconnect our cities to the nourishing earth by dedicating public spaces to nature and agriculture. We also need to convince the youth of the importance of a local and qualitative food by bringing them to discover how nature works and grows. We have 4 strategic areas of activity: Create small and productive urban farms to allow urban populations to access a local offer of organic and quality farm products by implementing a new form of viable farms on small areas, and of course adapted to the context. Create urban agriculture resource dedicated spaces: Allowing the urban population to access a local offer of goods (plants, farm inputs…) and services (courses and advices…) in order to encourage the ecological gardening practices in cities. Transform the public green spaces: Work with the relevant stakeholders (public authorities, social housing providers, users…) towards a more inclusive allocation of wasteland, that would support the development of edible productions, biodiversity refuge, quiet spaces for people, nature, and animals to enjoy, as well as useful services for the population. Develop the educational tools for the young school audience: Giving the possibility to pupils and teachers to benefit from adapted educational support, which would address the stakes of a healthy diet and its ties to a sustainable agriculture system, by leaning on practical experiences.
