The HELA Initiative consists of two primary streams: education and research.
The education stream, HELA Certification, launched in March 2025 and is an online course targeting key stakeholders across the live event industry. The future of the industry depends on stakeholders understanding and implementing best practices for creating safe listening environments while minimizing noise impact on surrounding communities.
The research stream, the HELA Research Co-op, is launching in Autumn 2025 and will closely align with HELA Certification. Over time, profits from the certification will fund research projects supported by the network. Addressing previously identified weak links between academia, manufacturers, and end-users, HELA’s research will promote interdisciplinary collaboration to drive innovation and improve knowledge transfer across the sector. HELA Research Co-op will foster growth by integrating expertise from diverse fields, ensuring that both research and education efforts contribute to the safety, sustainability and advancement of the live event industry.
