Hello Lincoln is a historic structure in the Downtown Phoenix historic Warehouse District. The original building was constructed in 1927 for the Arizona Sash, Door & Glass Company. The builder was G.F. Williams and the cost of the work was estimated at $15,663. Although the building permit, which is dated October 7, 1927, shows the address as 742 West Lincoln Street, city directories consistently show the address as 521 South 9th Avenue. The 1928 City Directory shows that the manager of the plant was Gustavus E. Engstrom and that the company’s slogan was “Glass of All Kinds.”
Sam and Anita Means purchased this site in January of 2019 in hopes of restoring it to its former historic charm. An extensive year long remodel of the inside has given this building new life. Everything has been replaced or fixed with special character and care.
Because of this notable history and careful restoration, Hello Lincoln’s event spaces’ notable features include brick construction, a gabled roof supported by wood trusses, a stepped parapet, several large wood and barn doors, and a combination of steel and wood windows, from a period of World War II when there was no steel present.
