Hello World is Purdue’s first-ever freshman-only hackathon.
After huge success the past three years, we’re excited to be back for a fourth time this Fall. On September 14th, over 200 freshmen from Purdue will come together to learn new technologies and build something amazing.
We are driven by a vision to foster a community at Purdue surrounding learning, sharing and building. It is our mission to expose freshmen and first-time hackers to hacker culture in a beginner-friendly environment. Our commitment to inclusivity is reflected in our numbers. More than 35% of our attendees last year were female and more than 90% were first-time hackers, and every single one of our participants submitted a project.
A trademark of Hello World is our mentors working side-by-side with students to make sure beginners don’t feel intimidated by all the new technology they are exposed to during the event. Every year, our mentors connect with all our participants and leave an impression that carries beyond a career-fair or tech talk.
