I am SO PROUD to introduce my business, The Handmade Story. WE MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE! We are a community project based in the foot hills of the Drakensburg Mountains, in South Africa, supporting a local community of HIV effected women. We teach the ladies craft skills, harnessing their talents and focusing them on creating beautiful globally inspiring products that then support our cause. Our core range are our ORIGINAL clay bead chandeliers, ceramic bead jewellery & assorted hand crafted homeware items that are sold across the globe,we supply the likes of Restoration Hardware, Arhaus, Ngala, Klaylife, Uniqwa, Daylesford, Bamford, and numerous highly acclaimed decorators, designers and architects worldwide ( Patrick Dempsey from Greys Anatomy has one of our bespoke clay bead chandeliers in his home too! ) We LOVE BESPOKE WORK! For example, we have made giant chandeliers for Palaces in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. We love creating new designs in any shape colour or size, using a variety of materials and silhouettes. We are able to gear up to produce retail quantities. & also are happy to create one off, exclusive ranges for you. WHY WE ARE SO SPECIAL.. We specifically have a beading programme whereby we distribute clay into the community for the women to hand roll clay beads for us. This means ladies who are too sick can earn a living from their beds ... and they also save on transport costs as they don’t need to travel. Because of this crucial project we have strategically chosen to NEVER WORK IN WOOD OR PLASTIC BEADS as firstly they don’t create employment and secondly they are bad for our environment! We can only continue to support this project and create employment if we keep selling our beautiful chandeliers and other products with our real human story... Please look out for cheap copies of our work coming in from the East, they are not the same quality! They are made from cheap wooden beads and do not support or create employment for underprivileged people!
