We are a multidisciplinary research team at the intersection of technology, environmental science, and social innovation. Our work focuses on biodiversity and climate change, with applications in agroforestry and soil systems, using a living lab approach that emphasizes real-world experimentation, community engagement, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. On the technical side, we develop and integrate advanced data-driven models, combining sensor networks, laboratory data, and proxy observables to support causal understanding, forecasting, and explanation. Our work leverages deep neural networks (DNNs), physics-informed models, neurosymbolic AI, and large language models (LLMs) adapted for specialized research contexts We are particularly interested in the link between biodiversity and proxy data, using AI not only to predict but also to explain and support decision-making. Our approach is innovation- and science-driven, constantly pushing boundaries with state-of-the-art methodologies. We also provide language solutions for low-resource languages, supporting inclusive AI development. We actively engage with society, offering services and tools that empower communities. Our activities include capacity building, training courses, and the integration of Global Talent Programs (GTPs). Through our communication team and initiatives like EcoRoutes — targeting youth and local actors — we address the "last mile" of innovation, connecting science to society via market-driven communication (e.g., Instagram, YouTube, etc.). We also organize an annual international meeting, now in its third edition, called Hemisphere — a space for cutting-edge dialogue on AI, climate resilience, biodiversity, and inclusive innovation. The event brings together researchers, practitioners, and community stakeholders to share advances, foster collaborations, and inspire actionable solutions.
