Henry Millet, un siècle de savoir-faire
L’histoire de la scierie Henry Millet commence en 1919, au sortir de la Grande Guerre lorsqu’il fallait mobiliser toutes les énergies pour reconstruire la France. Henry Millet ouvre une scierie à Ouzouer-sur-Loire, dans le Loiret, à proximité immédiate de la forêt d’Orléans, le plus vaste massif forestier Français.
Le fondateur met en place l’organisation d’une filière toujours d’actualité : l’exploitation forestière pour sélectionner les meilleurs arbres sur pied, la scierie pour transformer les grumes en bois d’œuvre (planches, avivés, poutres, plots), la parqueterie pour la fabrication du parquet et des panneaux massifs et la commercialisation pour écouler la production.
Son fils Roger prendra la suite et développera ce savoir-faire basé sur la force de la tradition et de l’excellence. Depuis, le flambeau a été repris par le Groupe Barillet entreprise familiale qui poursuit l’œuvre engagée avec des moyens supplémentaires.
