We are HEPASWITCH, an interdisciplinary scientific project being developed by students from four Warsaw Universities, aiming to revolutionise liver cancer treatment.
According to 2020 WHO data, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) ranks 5th in cancer incidence and 2nd in cancer-related deaths worldwide. Our Team is working on an innovative targeted therapy, personalized to each patient based on biopsy results, leveraging the power of synthetic biology.
In September 2025, we will represent Poland at iGEM (MIT) – the world’s most prestigious synthetic biology competition. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase our research on the international stage!
Our project is a combination of research and education – over the coming months, we will not only continue developing our therapy but also raise awareness about synthetic biology, inspiring and educating high school students across Poland.
So far, we have received support from the Polish Ministry of Education, which awarded us a grant to partially cover our research and the team’s participation in the competition costs.
