Trường Cao đẳng điện lực thành phố Hồ Chí Minh là nơi đào tạo nguồn nhân lực cho ngành điện miền Nam
Năm 1976, Nhà trường được thành lập và mang tên Trường Công nhân kĩ thuật điện, có cơ sở từ Trường Kỹ thuật Gia Định đã hòa nhịp cùng nhiều trường đào tạo khác trên cả nước góp phần cải tạo, xây dựng đất nước.
Vượt qua khó khăn từ cơ sở vật chất ban đầu thiếu thốn. Những giờ dạy ấm áp tình thầy trò, vừa dạy vừa học, vừa hoàn thiện máy móc, đạo cụ. Đội ngũ giáo viên giỏi, tận tâm đã tạo ra thế hệ học trò giỏi đầu tiên đóng góp vào nguồn nhân lực thời kỳ cải tạo, xây dựng đất nước sau thống nhất.
