Hephaestus Space

Hephaestus.space, founded in April 2019 by Christian Ferracane, is a revolutionary rocketry project that has gained thousands of euros in sponsorship and was showcased at Maker Faire Rome, where it was selected among the top 20 most interesting and innovative projects and received awards for its founder. At first, it started as an independent startup, and then attached itself to the Carducci Classical High School of Milan to be able to participate in student competitions. To date, the projects successfully completed by the team are a rocket with TVC (Thrust Vector Control) that stabilizes the ascent phase and controls the descent phase with a sophisticated parachute system; a cutting-edge launchpad with redundant safety systems and machine learning capabilities for automated guidance and navigation; a remote control ground station with biometric launch authentication systems for user authentication and security; a Martian rover with 6 motored wheels and a compartment to analyze soil samples obtained with an interchangeable tool robotic arm featuring advanced sensing capabilities and automated data collection. This allows the rover to analyze and identify potential mineral, soil, and water samples with a degree of accuracy and precision that has never before been seen at a research level. The project was born with the goal of making space exploration accessible to everyone and to engage people, especially the younger generations, in the world of aerospace engineering. To achieve this mission, all the build files are made available as open-source on GitHub, so that anyone can replicate our projects or improve and update them.
