About Herisktage
Monitoring the vulnerability of Greek cultural heritage to climate change. Climate change is our reality, affecting all aspects of life including our cultural heritage. But how can we monitor its impacts and preserve our history? We develop a platform using IoT technology for the continuous and real-time on-site monitoring of microclimate for selected cultural monuments in Greece. Our platform can: ● correlate and process microclimatic data of monuments, for example temperature, humidity, atmosphere quality, through a wireless sensor network ● develop high-resolution climate change scenarios in Greece ● develop risk factors based on : - typology of materials - main weathering mechanisms - climate scenarios Based on this knowledge, the Hellenic Ministry of Culture services will be able to plan strategies and take actions for an effective protection of our monuments. We aim to raise awareness and cooperate with local communities, visitors, students, tourism industry as well as universities and municipalities so that we achieve a greater configuration of the platform. Implementation: Hellenic Republic - Ministry of Culture and Sports & National Center of Scientific Research “Demokritos” : INN - Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology & INRASTES - Institute of Nuclear & Radiological Sciences & Technology, Energy & safety Funding: Greece 2.0 National Recovery and Resilience Plan, European Union
