Hermetica was founded as a learned society to promote research studies in ethnobotany and to conduct bioassays of underdocumented specimens procured during fieldwork. Licensing of commissions for special projects and consultation necessitated certification. Over the past two and a half decades, Hermetica has quietly evolved in scale and scope as an organic coalition of academies, scholars and activists united in their common goal of beautifying the planet through the arts and sciences and has the distinction of being the parent organization of Mycenae University.
By a happy coincidence, "hermetica" is an acronym comprised of the initials of the given names of its founders - only one "e" is redundant.
