In November 2018, our founder Alex Hanna went to Iceland, shortly after the passing of his grandfather in order to grieve on his own while doing what he loves, traveling. He wore an expensive parka from a well-known Canadian brand and once there, he couldn’t enjoy the beautiful landscape of Iceland because the parka he was wearing didn’t live up to its expected warmth. Our founder had to buy multiple sweaters there to wear underneath his parka, and yet he was still cold. Upon his return to his home of Burlington, Ontario, Canada, he began designing a parka that required no layering and performed as it should in up to -45 degrees Celsius weather. That is how Hewz started. Our founder had one goal in mind for the parka. To allow anyone to become their best self, to enjoy themselves wherever they may be, without thinking about how cold they are.
