Diane, the co-founder of HEY Operation, had a dream when she was 16 years old to build an orphanage. She had a passion for children at a young age and she knew that she had to do something to help displaced youth in our society. Diane decided to study architecture to one day design and build an orphanage.
That is the long term goal. In the meantime, we focused on making a difference one child at a time. Diane and a few relatives got together in 2012 to make gift bags for orphans in Tijuana. The following day, they took the gifts to the orphans and spent the day trying to make the children feel loved.
Every year, the number of volunteers grew, along with the amount of gifts that were packaged. In 2021, we packaged 2,000 gift bags in one hour with 100+ volunteers. In 2022, we are going to package 4,000 gift bags. Every year we plan to multiply, in hopes of providing a gift to every foster child in America.
