HIC Underwriting Managers is an innovative Underwriting Management Agency with traditional underwriting values. Established in July 1998 and originally registered as HIU Consultants we identified the demand for asset protection and risk management solutions for the Hospitality sector. In 2009 the company expanded its offering to include all areas of the Commercial & Industrial sector and in 2010 changed its name to HIC (Hospitality, Industrial & Commercial) Underwriting Managers.
HIC's focus on risk management assists intermediaries in identifying risks, thereby minimising potential impact and maximising opportunities to improve the risk. HIC guides clients on mitigating risk by offering brokers CPD accredited risk awareness webinars presented by leading industry professionals.
HIC underwrites a wide range of award-winning short-term insurance products. The PMR.africa award winning Hospitality product caters for Guesthouses, Boutique hotels, game lodges and conference centres. The Hospitality sector also has a separate award winning Bed & Breakfast product and a Restaurant product covering franchised and standalone businesses. The Golf & Greens policy is a tailor-made product designed specifically for golf estates, bowling greens and recreational facilities. Golf carts are catered for under the motor section of this policy. The C&I arm provide solutions for manufacturing, retail and commercial operations. A Motor Fleets products is available for fleets larger than 15 vehicles. The Schools products has been awarded the PMR.africa award under the Academic Institutions category since 2016. This product provides broad spectrum protection against risks facing schools. The Sectional Title product, Accommod8, covers commercial and residential buildings, including homeowners and homeowners associations.
HIC has a footprint across South Africa with the head office in Bedfordview and branches in Cape Town, KZN, Gqeberha, Mpumalanga, Bloemfontein, Polokwane and Pretoria.
