Hillingdon Swimming Club

Hillingdon Swimming Club can trace its roots back to the late 1950’s and has grown over the years into a very large club, incorporating all sections of water sports, competitive swimming, learn-to-swim, masters, diving, sub aqua, life saving, synchro, snorkel and social swimming were all part of the same club. In 1987 the competitive swimming section along with the learn-to-swim, revised their constitution and finances and independently registered with the ASA and together was renamed Ruislip-Northwood Swim Squad. Hillingdon Borough Swimming Club (HBSC) was formed in the early 1990s by the feeder clubs of Forward Hillingdon, SeaByrds and Ruislip-Northwood Swim Squad to provide an elite training squad. In December 2007, Ruislip-Northwood Swim Squad changed its name to Hillingdon Swimming Club in recognition of its Borough wide activities. Hillingdon Swimming Club is currently organised into 2 houses, Ruislip-Northwood Swim Squad (RNSS) and the Hillingdon Borough Elite Swimming Team (HBEST). Hillingdon Swimming Club is at based at Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex, which is the home to a 50-metre pool that was opened by Boris Johnson, Mayor of London in March 2010. The pool offers flexibility and allows our swimmers to train at both 50-metre and 25-metre distances. The 50-metre pool is an excellent facility meaning that Hillingdon Swimming Club can host sought after Long Course Events. In the summertime, the Hillingdon swimmers are arriving for their early morning swim sessions in the indoor 50 metre pool, there are usually Hillingdon residents starting their day with an early morning dip in the outdoor pool too. Additionally, Hillingdon Swimming club utilises the facilities at Highgrove Swimming Pool in Ruislip, St Helens School in Northwood as well as the pool at Merchant Taylors School in Northwood.
