Matelli Himalayan Prayatn Dooars Society is a community-based organization in the Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Alipurduar districts of West Bengal. The organization has worked within the tea gardens of above mention district of West Bengal since 2015. The organization has been helping youths of tea gardens, mostly first-generation learners, to connect with a high-quality education. Many students have been studying or completed education (UG & PG) from reputed universities of India like JNU, Delhi University, Tata Institute of social science, Azim Premji University, Vishva Bharati, Mangalore University, Sacred heart college -Tamilnadu and Kalinga University, etc.
Philosophy
“Rivers do not drink their water; trees do not eat their fruit; the sun does not shine on itself, and flowers do not spread their fragrance for themselves. Living for others is a rule of nature. We are all born to help each other. No matter how difficult it is…life is good when you are happy, but much better when others are happy because of you.”
