Unlike most pathology laboratories, which provide predominantly automated testing of blood samples, or general pathology, Histopath differs by being a market leader in a specialised sub-branch of pathology. Histopath’s surgical pathology services involve the gross and microscopic examination of patient tissue specimens which are submitted by Surgeons and GPs. This allows for the definitive diagnosis or exclusion of diseases, such as cancer.
Tissue specimens are processed by scientists and then examined by specialist doctors. Examination of the tissue may involve evaluation of molecular properties by immunohistochemistry or other laboratory tests.
