“HITTITE” is a group of innovative artists and craftsmen based in Kizugawa City, Kyoto, who inherit the true essence of MONOZUKURI (manufacture) from the land that shares the border with the ancient capital of Japan, Nara and marks third to Kyoto City and Uji City in the amount of national treasures and important cultural properties. Besides industrial designs and home/shop renovations, we offer hand-made detailed arts and crafts, building material, and tailor-made products using iron. We place our values on the one-and-only MONOZUKURI craftsmanship which is essential in creating something that would eventually add up to these national goods, and to create a better living environment and the future for our children. You may witness in our hand-made products, the perfection and the persistence of the Original Quality© that our skilled craftsmen have strived for regardless the time and cost; a quality that mass-production cannot deliver. While high-tech has always been the key to modern life, HITTITE presents “low-tech” hand-made manufacture to seek for a “universal value”, a value we see in Japanese traditional architecture and arts and crafts.
