H.M.Borges - Madeira Wine - Since 1877

Lda. was founded in 1877 by Henrique Menezes Borges, who devoted his entire life to searching for a selection of wines produced on the Madeira Island, in order to put them aging. The company is still in the Borges Family and it is managed by the 4th generation. The company’s facilities are located in an emblematic building in the center of Funchal, near to the Madeira Wine Institute. This centenary building was constructed at the end of the 19th century and, at first, was a cereal grinding factory, it retains all the original architectural traits and it is here that H.M.Borges concentrates all of its activity, from the production, aging and bottling to the shop and tasting room. . . . Lda. foi fundada em 1877 por Henrique Menezes Borges, que dedicou toda a sua vida à procura de uma seleção de vinhos produzidos na Ilha da Madeira, para o seu envelhecimento. A empresa continua na família Borges e é gerida pela 4ª geração. As instalações da empresa estão localizadas num edifício emblemático no centro do Funchal, perto do Instituto do Vinho da Madeira. Este edifício centenário foi construído no final do século XIX e, inicialmente, era uma fábrica de moagem de cereais, mantém todas as características arquitectónicas originais e é onde a H.M.Borges concentra toda a sua atividade, desde a produção, envelhecimento, linha de engarrafamento até à loja e sala de provas.
