About HOIS
HOIS is a well established (>40 years) joint industry project (JIP) on good practice for Non Destructive Testing (NDT) in the energy industry. The JIP is managed by ESR Technology Ltd (www.linkedin.com/company/esr-technology). HOIS has 40 industrial partners comprising of asset owner/operators, inspection service companies, equipment vendors, notified/appointed bodies, and the NZTC. The membership determines the technical programme of work to ensure that projects continue to be aligned with industry priorities. HOIS projects aim to lead to: • Improved effectiveness of in-service inspection for the energy industry. • More reliable in-service inspection – better detection of in-service degradation. • More accurate measurements of remaining wall thickness. • Improved information on asset condition for asset owners. • Reduction in loss of integrity and near misses. HOIS activities include: • Good practice documents for specific inspection applications which can feed into international standards and member inspection service company procedures. Publicly available documents can be downloaded from https://esrtechnology.com/hois/publications/, others are only available to HOIS members. • Reports on blind trials giving improved information on performance of inspection techniques. • Industry forum for latest developments • Development of novel inspection techniques for specialised applications.
