Homestretch Foundation

The Homestretch Foundation™ is a nonprofit organization established to assist elite female endurance athletes with housing and living expenses. Homestretch Foundation will also provide assistance for athletes preparing to retire or transition from professional competition by assisting them with resources, education and networking related to professional and personal development. Our mission is to help our Homestretch athletes achieve greater success, during and after their athletic careers. Wage statistics indicate that women, on average, make only 77 cents on the dollar as compared to their male counterparts in similar positions. In most professional sports, the wage gap is even greater, making the choice to pursue a professional athletic career for women far more difficult. Even basic daily living expenses like housing and food can be a significant challenge or hardship for women competing or attempting to compete at the professional or Olympic level. The Homestretch Foundation was established to provide resources, connections and support for female professional / aspiring amateur athletes, with the goal of leveling the playing field of opportunity and compensation. We passionately believe an elite athletic career can provide and develop important qualities, including organizational skills, discipline, and teamwork, that lead to high achievement in other societal capacities. Our goal is to help reduce our athletes’ immediate living expenses by providing housing, and eventually grants or scholarships, that could enable female athletes to train full time, similar to many of their male counterparts. We also aspire to support our resident athletes with skill development, education and access to career opportunities and relationships that help prepare them for their future, both during and after sports.
