Home Sweet Home Children's School

For over twenty years, Home Sweet Home Children's School has been serving families within the neighborhood, providing an intimate and nurturing "home away from home" experience for young children. We are a private preschool that provides childcare for children between the ages of two and five, is fully licensed by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and has been working with the New York City Department of Education for decades. At Home Sweet Home, we believe that every child is gifted in his or her own unique way. We believe that instilling the desire and passion for learning in young children is a critical first step in ensuring that they develop as successful individuals within school and beyond, become contributing members of society, and thrive in whatever future endeavors they hold throughout life. We value the importance of hands-on experiences, and encourage our students to hypothesize, explore, and form their own conclusions through these experiences. We cherish the idea that every individual is a lifelong learner, and that therefore, children should not be afraid to experiment, make mistakes, and grow from them. Our progressive education is a holistic one, focusing on all domains of children's development. Lessons are focused not only on academics, but also on fine/gross motor skills, social and emotional development, and other skills required for everyday life. Teachers are trained to carefully select meaningful resources and materials to make this a possibility, and to integrate them within our daily schedule and lesson plans. Children can take full advantage of our classroom resources, using it as a safe environment in which to explore and flourish among their peers. As an educational institution, we offer both private and public program options, along with a variety of extracurricular activities throughout the academic year.
