Since 2018, HOPE Recovered has been registered in South Africa as both an NPO (non-profit organization) and a PBO (public benefit organization).
Currently, HOPE Recovered is running a library for primary school children in the township of Mamelodi (a black township in Pretoria East ) where they teach the basics of reading English. Reading is the foundation of all learning and has the potential to lift people out of poverty and transform lives. A program for teenagers and young adults offers hope in Jesus Christ, which allows young people to dream of a better future again. In addition, HOPE Recovered offers the young people academic support, courses in leadership and entrepreneurship.
The vision of the founders is to move to the township and build a children's and youth center. Proximity to beneficiaries allows for better relationships, communication and intervention. In addition, the range of programs could be expanded. HOPE Recovered is looking for strong, long-term partnerships to purchase land in the area and build this center. One of the founders grew up in the township and knows first-hand what it means to live in poverty, the circumstances that leave many young people hopeless and the trauma that so many children go through.
